Description
Lineart for my entry to the Super Paper Mario fanart contest on Nintendo's NSider forums.
This has to be the most I've done this early on in the game for these contests in at least a year or so. Normally at this point the main idea would be nothing more than a twinkle in my eye, not a completed lineart. So, in that regard, I'm quite proud of myself. Not to say I'm not proud of the way it turned out, as this has to be the most professional, as well, that I've been with a piece in some time as well.
The interesting part of this is the inspiration. If you can't see it, I took elements from various Star Wars theatrical posters to create the layout for this. Notice the looming form of Mr. L (in SPM, Luigi)? In nearly every poster for Star Wars, of course excluding the prequels, Vader is seen as a large dominating background element to the posters. The larger and smaller sizes of various other characters like Mario and the villians from SPM are taken straight out of the style of movie posters.
Hopefully this is a somewhat unique and worthwhile experiment to take influence in a more subtle manner. Enjoy! Expect this to be scrapped when I color it for the full version.
