another Zelda.  Which is bizarre.

Skyward Sword is something of a repeat experience for me.  It feels very much like The Wind Waker.  Not the game itself, but leading up to its release.  I knew vaguely about TWW.  I had Nintendo Power, I read about it, but the internet was still pretty new to me, so there wasn't this following of every scrap of information that would later happen with Twilight Princess.

Well, for whatever reason, I did the same thing with Skyward Sword.  It was partially avoidance, but really, I got myself in the mindset that I didn't think about it much.  The day I got it I even wasn't really all that on edge about it.  I was happy to get and play it, but it wasn't rushed.  It was nice.

I also got to do my first play of it with an audience, and that was cool as well.  Not so good when I sucked up the flying something fierce and everyone seemed to believe it was immediately so simple.  Yeah, it isn't.  There's a knack to be gained.

I'm going back and forth between it and Super Mario 3D Land.  I got most of my Christmas gift games already, so I'm wondering what will happen.  Well, I still really want to get Rayman: Origins.  That game looks very nice.  Similar in many regards to Donkey Kong Country Returns, which I love.  Platformers are my thing.  Action/adventure too, obviously, but not quite as frequently. (pretty much just Zelda)

Seems like what I tend to update with is video games.  I guess that makes sense.  My art is, at the moment, mostly focused on finishing my art degree that . . . I probably shouldn't have ever signed up for . . . so that explains the lack of fanart.  I have a lot of sketches, but most get pushed to the side and forgotten.

Anyway, if my desires are fulfilled, I'd like to do some Skyward Sword art.  The game has a nice, dramatic feel to it so far and I think it might be enough to push me to pull something off.  Maybe.  It's hard to tell.  You'd think I'd finish up my anniversary image for OoT that's a few years old, but it hasn't aged well and, if anything, would just be restarted.

Honestly, I think when I made drawing into my primary schooling, the fun of it died, so it's hard to express my interest that way.  I find more often I enjoy writing about games or collecting obscure merchandise more so than tribute images.  I've also wanted to reboot that Nsider series for some time now (and Bowser, if you're reading this, I actually did redraw your character, albeit with some errors, and hope to post that soon) but haven't have the mind to do it.

Seems like when there are so many things I could be doing, I end up doing nothing instead.  It's lame, but I'm still hopeful that I'll find the motivation to show you guys something.  It bothers me a bit that I neglect this account and the friends I've made through it.  Just know I still think about you even if I seem to be absent.

Wow, I just saw the Platinum/Gold rewards for the Club Nintendo year and they're . . .

lame.

It's not even that it's a pin set.  It's that it's a MARIO pin set.  Seriously, Mario, go away.  I love you and your games, but you are merchandised to death and I'm tired of collecting you.  Let's have some love for more obscure stuff.

Obscure stuff that your FANS that you're giving these items to in a LOYALTY program would be interested in having.  I know fans are going to love Mario, but come on now.  Metroid?  Pokemon?  Star Fox?  Donkey Kong?  Fire Emblem?

How about ZELDA!  It's the perfect year for it and I seriously believed you'd do something for the 25th anniversary through CN.  Instead we seem to be getting another Mario anniversary item.  Come on, give Zelda the spotlight!

That said/ranted, I'm still very happy and appreciative that we even have a Club Nintendo in the states and will take your free pin set and cherish it always.

Well, due to my third shift status, I got the info pretty late and I have to say I'm impressed.  An incredibly powerful showing by Nintendo.  Second year in a row!  It's an exciting time to be a Nintendo fan!

Ok, well, it will be an exciting time.  :P  Sorry, right now things are a little slow, but they're sure to pick up once OoT 3D comes out and I can get a 3DS!

Wow, the 3DS.  It had a pretty sad launch, that much I admit, but looking at the trailers for the new games to come; Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario, Super Mario, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus Uprising, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, MegaMan Legends 3!  I can't help but be excited.

Oh, and Wii U!  I'm sorry, but that's a cool name to continue the Wii brand with and I'm not afraid to say it.  An HD Wii, who would have thought?  That's pretty amazing to see Nintendo step up, even if every "hardcore" thug is going to go on about how they didn't step far enough.  I can't wait until technology hits the glass ceiling and there's no where to go graphics wise.

Oh, and ZELDA!  A new trailer for Skyward Sword (and some official art I'm seeing) as well as a launch date!  How about that Wii U tech demo for Zelda?  I'm not crazy about the idea of using TP Link again (unless they're making sequel) but who can argue with those pretty graphics?  Don't get me wrong, I can play a game that isn't that advanced, but it's still neat to see!  Oh yeah, and the 25th Anniversary orchestra!  Oh, and the soundtracks for OoT3D that you can get from Club Nintendo and the orchestra later on!  And the gold Wiimote for Skyward Sword!

Fantastic e3.  Really good.  Now time to sit back and force myself to be the patient Nintendo fan.  Bah.  :P

I haven't posted a journal since June . . . and it's October.  Wow.

Sorry about the lack of activity, but I've been distracted.  I'd tell you I've been busy, but that implies far less laziness then is to be appreciated, so I won't say that.

I have been drawing, I just don't really have anything all that impressive to post.  I'm definitely not dead.  I really haven't been doing much more than doodling and school work (which is pretty boring imo) and neither makes that great a deviation.  Unless you want a whole messa' naked dudes.

Oh, and many thanks for the birthday wishes from those who gave them!  I feel bad that I've very likely missed that opportunity with many of you.  I hope to be a bit more active here soon.  Humor me.  :P

Thanks for the support!  :D

EDIT: I've attempted to edit this slightly to take the anger out.  It was misplaced and at times outright unfair.  I apologize to those who might have been upset by it.

While at work last night I tried to get excited about the new Zelda game that would likely be shown at e3 this year.  I tried.  I really did, but for some reason I couldn't do it.  I was interested, but excitement didn't come.

I saw the trailer and I felt disappointed.  I guess I was expecting more content and instead we got more gameplay, which is interesting, but is more or less what you'd expect every time.  WiiMotionPlus is interesting, but I'm more interested in the look of the game, the story of the game and the atmosphere of the game.

But how about some issues?

Twilight Princess Link.  Why is he back?  I know they've said it isn't a sequel to TP and thus this isn't the same Link, but it's the same damn model.  Look at the official art.  It's the same with brighter colors.  Although, the official art is pretty nice.  Doesn't really translate into the game so well for what we've seen with the nifty blue fading effect.  It feels Twilight Princess with a The Wind Waker filter on it.  Throw in a few more cartoonish elements like Link's weaponry and there you go.  It's so stylistically disjointed.  Say what you will about Majora's Mask, it had it's style down pat.

I know I'll be seeing the old, "you had your expectations too high" argument sooner or later, but the sick thing is that I had NO EXPECTATIONS and it STILL was disappointed.  I'll definitely buy the game as it has the words "Legend of Zelda" on it, but I feel concerned about the direction it's going in.  This isn't final judgment and it's probably much too much early to really be ranting about it.  Still . . .

Oh, but Nintendo has that way of sucker punching me and then offering me sweet, delicious cake.  Such as last year when we saw New Super Mario Bros Wii before Super Mario Galaxy 2 and were all saying "wtf?".  And that sucker punch comes in the way of . . .

MUTHA FRAKING OCARINA OF TIME 3DS!

Sweet God I am so so so so much more excited about this than "Skyward Sword".  What dos that even mean?  It's got a graphical lift that makes it look more akin to OoT characters from SSBM and is going portable!  Seriously, Nintendo could release this game on each new platform and I'd still buy it, but this looks to be a genuine real effort instead of a rerelease.

I'll buy Skyward Sword when it comes out in 2011 (or 2012,13,etc :P) with a grin on my face.  It's Zelda.  Even at it's worst it still means something to me.  I'm just concerned and sometimes I don't think before I rant.

Once again, my apologies.
